Hotel Review: DO & CO Hotel, Vienna, Austria
The DO & CO Hotel in Vienna could not be located in a more central location. Opposite the gothic facade of St. Stephens Cathedral in the dead center of Vienna’s historic old town, the hotel is a short walking distance from most major tourist attractions making its location unbeatable. This boutique hotel has a of long list of positive features that will make any stay comfortable and memorable. The architecture and artistic direction is in line with a city renowned for design.
Room
I had a City View room and most of these rooms overlook Stephansplatz or the Graben. The rooms are modern, hip and far more unique than an average chain hotel. The bathroom has a see-through shower with over-head rain. A very cool feature! There is a separate enclosed toilet area with tv. I always think a tv next to the toilet is funny. A full sized mini-bar and generous siting area (with night-stands on wheels) makes the room great for relaxing or pre-dinner entertaining. The comfortable bed, luxury linens and amenities are to be expected for a classy hotel such as this.
Hospitality
In a city not known for its hospitality, I found the check-in staff to be friendly with porters ready to assist. To our surprise there were chocolates waiting for us in the room. A deliciously friendly gesture! They even had Champagne waiting in our dear friends’ room to help celebrate their anniversary. The hotel staff noticed a water glass on our night stand, so without prompting, a water carafe and 2 glasses where in place when we returned from the days activities.
Bonus
One of the best hotel breakfasts you will ever eat. Buffet style with lots of tasty carefully prepared gourmet treats by top chefs. If the weather is decent, make sure you eat on the patio overlooking Stephansplatz with St. Stephans facade at eye level. The Onyx bar is the trendy night spot where the good looking kids of Vienna go for a proper cocktail. A nice lounge to relax, enjoy the ambience and begin any evening of bar hopping or partying.
