Before You Go to the Airport

Use Apps & Technology to form a “Game Plan”

Having a game plan at the airport is key to have a seamless and stress-free experience. Apps like Trip it, App in the Air and the TSA App can provide a ton of information at your fingertips. Knowing what to expect at the airport is half the battle. Apps like your Google Maps or your native Apple Map App now have terminal maps and airport maps built into them. This will help you navigate unfamiliar airports or epically long terminals. Check out the App section of my site for more info

Easily Get Thru Lines at the Airport

The whole point of being at the airport is to get thru the airport to catch your flight on time. Get Clear or Global Entry or TSA Pre-Check to help you minimize time spent in lines at the Airport. If you are a frequent traveler, these are part of making the airport experience seamless. The new kid on the block, CLEAR, is in my opinion the greatest thing to hit airports since TSA Pre. Also, Mobile Passport is free for everyone and ideal for those who don’t have Global Entry. Travel Ambassador readers can use the promo code 2FREE to try CLEAR for 2 Months Free  Also, use the membership discount code AFF149 (1 full year for $149) Enter the code manually or use this link.

Increase mobility to Get Thru the Airport

How easy is it to get from point A to B? No matter what kind of holiday you are on, you will have to handle your own bag. That bag is likely to be your carry on. I’m a minimalist and like to be lightweight and fancy free at the airport. At some point we all have to deal with our bags, especially the carry on. For most trips, I’m a 4 wheel carry on dude.

Gain Access to Airport Lounges

Several credit cards can give you access to various. A good travel credit card will give you access to lounges. You can shower, eat, and relax in style and comfort while avoiding the hustle and bustle of the terminals. The bathroom in these lounges tend to be cleaner and nicer than inside the terminal. If you have kids, or traveling with family, this can be a game changer.

Make it Easy On Yourself

Your airline app, Tripit & App in the Air will give you loads of information about your airport experience. You can easily answer any question at the touch of your fingertips.

Bring an extra charger with you so you don’t have to huddle around a socket. I like GOAL ZERO Venture 30 7800mAh Waterproof Power Bank, Dual 2.4A USB Ports. It can charge your device several times. You can make a friend as it also charges 2 devices at once.

Best Airport and Lounge Tips

If you are using Airport Wifi or any public wifi network, don’t forget to install a VPN. That will help keep you safe from digital thieves.

Bonus Tip: Bring an empty water bottle in order to not go bankrupt while trying to stay hydrated. I love my trusted Hydro Flask 24 oz Water Bottle and fill it up once I arrive.

I don’t know if you are referring to size or making sure there is enough capacity left in the overhead bins. Some credit cards that are associated with airlines give you extra perks like earlier boarding. Also, if you are worried about space, pay the fee to that gives your early boarding privileges. If it’s a matter of size, it doesn’t matter where in economy you physically sit. All of the overhead bins are the same. I will say, Jet Blue and Southwest in the USA have very generous overhead bin allowances. Hope that helps.
